How to take a screenshot in Windows 10

On Windows 10 computers using the key Print Screen on the keyboard, you can take a screenshot of the entire screen (with or without saving), or a screenshot of a part of the screen, as well as a screenshot of the desired program window.

Screenshot of the whole screen with saving

Press the keys + PrtScr. In some cases, this may not work and you need to press the keys + Ctrl + PrtSrc or + Fn + PrtScr.

If you use a tablet on, then use the keyboard shortcut to take a picture + volume down.

Snapshot the entire screen without saving

To take a screenshot without saving, you need to press the key PrtScr. The captured screenshot is saved in the clipboard, so do not copy anything else in order not to overwrite it until the moment of saving.

From the clipboard, you can add a screenshot to any program using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V. Most often, Paint is used to save screenshots - a preinstalled graphics editor in Windows 10. You can also paste such a screenshot into any Microsoft Office program.

Snapshot of the program window

If you want to take a screenshot of only the program you are using, and not the entire screen, then simultaneously use the keys Alt + PrtScr. Some devices use a combination Alt + Fn + PrtScr.

The screenshot will be saved to the clipboard, but as in the case of a screenshot without saving from the clipboard, the screenshot can be inserted into any program with a key combination Ctrl + V.

Area screenshot

Windows 10 has a built-in ability to take a screenshot of the screen area. To do this, hold down the keys + Shift + S. After that the screenshot will be saved in your clipboard.

If you want to take a screenshot of the screen area on other versions of Windows, then install and use one of the screenshot services: Joxi or LightShots.
